Sentinel Aware

Aware is the Sentinel system’s sense of the vehicle. A small read-only interface at the vehicle’s data port decodes vehicle state — ignition, signals, brake, doors — and publishes it to the Sentinel network, so lighting responds to the truck itself, not just to its switches.

In development

Lighting that knows what the truck is doing

Without Aware, a power distribution system is deaf: it knows its switches and nothing else. Aware publishes finished, decoded vehicle states to the network a few times a second — trustworthy states, not a raw data firehose — and the installer links them to lighting behaviour in configuration. We call those links Logic Links.

Hazards, key off

Hazard lights run on constant power and work with the key off, while the rest of the vehicle sleeps. Aware lives in that always-on domain too — it sees the hazards and the system can answer: scene lighting up around a stopped vehicle, automatically.

Signals & brake

Auxiliary lighting can follow the vehicle’s own turn signals and brake application — trailer and chase lighting that behaves like it was wired at the factory, because it is driven by the same decoded states.

Ignition off means sleep

Aware senses ignition state at the data port and forwards it, so the whole Sentinel system can shut down with the truck — no separate ignition tap, and nothing drawing on the battery while parked.

Doors & courtesy

A door opening is a vehicle state too. Courtesy and scene lighting can meet the crew at the door, then fade — configured per door, per build.

Example reactions — every Logic Link is installer configuration, set per vehicle and per build.

Read-only, on purpose

Aware listens. It never writes to the vehicle, never requests anything from it, and cannot clear a code or change a setting. That is a design boundary, not a missing feature: the one deliberate write in the BScene ecosystem — clearing a DTC — belongs to In-Site, under its safeguards.

Underneath, Aware runs on the same BScene decoder as In-Site: per-manufacturer profiles, every signal labelled with its proof, gaps written down plainly. GM Global A is the first profile.

Aware or In-Site?

Sentinel Aware is an accessory — you will never use it without Sentinel. It exists to give a lighting system vehicle awareness.

In-Site is the standalone diagnostics product: live data, trouble codes, session history and exports, in its own app — and when it plugs into a Sentinel system, it brings diagnostics to the Controller as well.

Different jobs, one decoder. Many builds will carry both.

Part of the family

Aware joins the same CAN network as the modules, switch panels and Controller — one more voice, reporting the vehicle.
